Exactly how we like to find them......

Finding a new to the market vintage watch in original condition is always exciting.

This incredible Rolex double reference 5513/5517 Military Submariner (ref. 5513 engraved between the lugs at 6:00 with ref. 5517 engraved on the reverse of the 7:00 lug)  found its way to our workshop courtesy of the family of the original owner last week.

The watch had been used daily since the late 1970s, without ever being serviced.
The movement though had remained in pristine untouched condition completely preserved by the oyster case & still keeping good time. It would have been a tragedy to change anything so we simply gave the case an ultrasonic clean, polished the scratches on the crystal out, and added a new bezel & insert, as the original had been lost some years before.

The case back engravings have remained incredibly sharp & under a loupe provide a benchmark for future reference. The issue number of 6xx/77 was also the earliest double reference that we had on record to date.

I would like to thank the previous owners M & H for bringing their fathers watch to us, it was an absolute pleasure to meet with you, and also receive your kind words afterwards.

"Hi Daniel

Many thanks
M & H

PS. will do the letter you asked for with the history"
